Why can I suddenly hear, smell, and feel everything so intensely? I hear my upstairs neighbors snoring, I smell a nauseating scent from 2 rooms away, and I can feel the seams on my clothes like they’re the most important thing in the world… please, ADHD sensory hell, PLEASE let me sleep!

I cannot tell you how many times I have had to A)change my pajamas pants because I didn’t like the way they felt on my legs B) had to change my t-shirt to a “good” t-shirt i.e. one that is a tiny bit softer and more worn down or C) had to get up at 1-3am to take a shower because I just could not stand the feeling of my hair and it needed to be washed.

Sensory issues are such an ignored aspect of ADHD and it’s very frustrating. I can remember clearly being in first grade crying because my sock was on the wrong foot and I could feel the seam. To this day, I am very particular about the shirts that I wear. It’s not taken seriously. I won’t get into auditory sensory issues lol.
